Sweet Ali joined us at Wright Park to celebrate her first year! As with most babies finishing up their Baby Plans with us, I’m in a little bit of a shock that she’s already grown into a toddler! Like most one-year-olds, she was far more interested in exploring than staying still for the camera, but she was a good sport anyway and shared many, many smiles. Happy birthday, Miss Ali!

Given the state of my own boys’ curly hair at any given point of the day, I suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I have a soft spot in my heart for crazy locks. And it looks like little Kellan here will soon be sharing the same fate! This little man was such a mellow sweetheart for me to photograph and had no complaint going through a serious of poses and props. Thank you, Kellan! He first stole my heart as “the firefighter’s son” in his newborn session, so of course we had to continue the theme with a shot of him in his very own rookie shirt! And the look he’s giving to his own name-in-blocks is priceless! Serious cutie.

Here comes the busy season (who wouldn’t want their photo taken in all this gorgeous sunshine and spring bloom?!) — and consequentially, I can feel myself slipping behind on blogging again. I have so many gorgeous little ones to share with you, ready and waiting! Time to catch up. First, meet Aidan, who visited our studio at just seven days old along with big sis Elisa, mama Ellen, and daddy Adam.
We’ve known Adam for a while, having worked alongside him on numerous occasions through Wallflower Photography, our wedding photography studio, when Adam was wearing a different hat as head honcho over at one of our favorite fellow vendors, Adam’s DJ Service. As a longtime “industry vet,” Adam knows a ton of photographers, so we’re proud to be the ones picked to photograph his family and new bambino!
I had a blast getting to know the new little man and spending a few hours with their sweet little family. Here, Elisa shows that she has mastered the idea that portrait sessions can be — and should be — fun.

All silliness aside, it was time to get down to the snuggly business of photographing the little man. Check out how protective Elisa looks already! She’s taking that big sis role seriously.

For the next photograph, Aidan cuddled up on a gorgeous hand-stitched baby blanket that was Adam’s when he was a baby, one that he remembers fondly from his own childhood. Precious!

Scott and I spent a fabulous spring morning a few weeks back photographing a little cutie near and dear to my heart, the daughter of our friends Mina and Jeff. I first met little Jacqueline and her mama during a mom-and-baby class when my youngest son was just a couple months old. It’s hard to believe they’re both now well past a year and toddling around! Jac made the most of exploring nearby Wright Park, starting at the gorgeous conservatory before heading over to the duck pond — stopping, of course, to explore all the spring blossoms along the way!

It only seemed fitting to have a few photos of Isaac and Jacqueline together, and this little series below always makes me laugh. Sure seems like Ike was feeling a little skeptical of Jac’s pick-up lines! But as you can see in the last photo, all’s well that ends well between these two friends!

After meeting big bro Jack in our previous post, here’s baby Liam! This little guy was a newborn photographer’s dream and was super mellow throughout his portrait session. He quickly settled into any prop we chose, barely made a peep, and only pooped once! You might laugh to hear that — we’re no stranger to bodily fluids here and certainly not afraid of a little mess, but it does make the session go quite a bit faster when we aren’t spending as much time on clean-up! Liam’s mama Cara is an elementary school teacher, so I felt it was only fitting to transform this cute little guy into his own little bookworm as a hungry caterpillar … what do you think? Bookworm or cuddle bug — either way, I almost didn’t want to send this little babe home! Big congrats to Cara, Jeremy, and Jack. Liam’s a keeper!

I’m a sucker for siblings! When Cara, Jeremy and little Jack visited our studio for maternity portraits, we got plenty of the usual happy-mama-big-bump shots — and those turned out beautifully, too — but it’s the ones of big bro anxiously awaiting his sibling that I love the most. First up, meet Jack! This post is all about his journey from single-childhood to brotherhood. These portraits were taken just three days before Cara delivered little Liam, so you won’t have to wait long to meet proud Jack’s little bro!

We’ve been watching this family grow for a while, ever since we photographed Sam and Celina’s wedding back in 2006. Since then, we’ve welcomed and photographed big brother James, and now his little partner-in-crime, Ben! This session is a great example of the type of portraits we produce from an in-home session. I trekked up to the family’s home in Seattle and spent a relaxed and enjoyable morning finding all the best nooks and crannies in their house for some fun photographs together. The one above of little Ben getting a kiss from his daddy has to be one of my all-time favorites!

After some photos of the family together, Ben was feeling a little sleepy and grouchy. We got these last photos of the two brothers together before it was time for a brief nap. Don’t worry, James, I know just how you feel!

As much as I love pairing up babies and props (and if you follow my blog, you’ll know that’s not something I’m not shy about), it’s the portraits of families interacting that move me the most! Sweet Lauren and her big sis Mia were perfect for this type of shot. I predict a very close, at times goofy (see fourth shot below), sisterhood ahead of them! And of course, this batch wouldn’t be complete without some sweet cuddles with her mama and daddy.

I waited quite a long time to meet this little guy, who had a little stay in the hospital before he was ready to head home. I was so excited to at last meet Theo when he was twelve weeks old, and I loved having the opportunity to get some more candid-style photographs of him kickin’ it all warm and cozy with his folks at home. Both his parents are WSU alum, so of course we had to start off the session showing off his loyalty to his future alma mater (right, Theo?). Doesn’t he look good in crimson?

After a short spell of modeling, little Theo was tuckered out, which gave me a great opportunity to get some peaceful, snoozing shots. He couldn’t look happier!
